Age: 2 years old and up
Area: Practical Life: Fine motor and Care of Self
Materials:

  • pomegranate
  • art smock or some other clothing protector
  • bowl

Procedure:

  1. If you’ve never prepared a pomegranate before it is very messy and can cause stains so I recommend having your child wear something to protect their clothing. We use an art smock.
  2. First, I cut the pomegranate into eighths and give one of them to my child.
  3. They then remove the seeds with their fingers and put them in a bowl. It’s a great fine motor exercise and there are so many seeds that it helps develop concentration. Afterwards you can eat them by themselves or sometimes we like to sprinkle them in some yogurt. Enjoy!
